About The Opportunity

Role Purpose

 To manage urgent express shipments across Europe, providing the required transit time whilst achieving the best price for the customer according to the market rate.
Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities


  • Arrange all road express transport requirements across Europe.

  • Ensure required transit periods are met with on time delivery.

  • Choose correct vehicle type for the requirements presented.

  • Negotiate the best prices on behalf of GKN according to the market rates.

  • Provide a high level of customer service.

  • Track shipments from collection to delivery point providing updates when required.

  • Achieve targeted gross margin per shipment.

  • Enter accurate and consistent data in the operating system.

  • Provide out of hours cover for express activity during weekdays and weekends.

  • Track carrier performance providing relevant feedback.

  • Adherence to GKN Premium Freight process.

  • Generate reports and KPI’s.

Qualification and Skills

 

Formal Qualifications

Essential

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (USA)

  • 5 GCSE A-C or equivalent (UK)

 

Desirable

  • Certificate of Professional Competence

 

Specific Functional Competences, Knowledge and Skills Required

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills via phone and email.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of driver’s tachograph hours.

  • Awareness of European driving restrictions.

  • Full knowledge of weights and dimensions of vehicles.

  • An understanding of European road regulations and law.

  • Highly organised, detailed orientated, self-motivated and able to meet specific deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in domestic and international road transport across key European markets with leading European transport operator or 3PL.

Desirable

  • Experience of expedite road transports.

  • Previous automotive logistics experiences.

Language Skills

  • English language fluency is essential

  • Other European language is desirable
