Facilities & Maintenance Support Engineer

About The Opportunity
Role Purpose:
Responsible for support of Facilities/Maintenance projects, support maintenance troubleshooting, coordinate maintenance inventory and critical spares, coordinate maintenance of production equipment, utility, and infrastructure systems. Tasked with the continued servicing and repair required to support manufacturing and facility requirements. Position requires creative and dependent problem solving and decision making skills, the ability to resolve technical issues that create service interruptions and the ability to develop or design new techniques and methods that improve production. 
Key Responsibilities:
 Evaluate bids for facilities/maintenance contractors.  After completion of work, perform testing as necessary to validate work was completed and to the expected quality standards.
Write and maintain operating instructions for equipment, including start-up and shut-down procedures, what to do in event of power failure, etc.
Evaluate equipment for maintenance and critical spares requirements.  Help establish appropriate preventive maintenance plans.
Write and/or evaluate Capital Appropriations Requests for new equipment with a concentration on facilities concerns: electric-water-air hook-up requirements, special rigging or installation required, onsite start-up support, training, etc.  
Support maintenance staff for troubleshooting equipment failures.  Interface with Engineering and Systems Integration to develop ideas for equipment improvement.
Assist in lay-out of new facilities or new work cells within facilities.  
Assist with Machine Risk Assessments in design and planning phase when possible, and upon equipment installation.
Input and maintain PM equipment logs.
An attention to detail that constantly strives to minimize machine downtime.
Communicate and provide information about machine repairs, projects and PM’s.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Uphold procedures that are clear and concise and that can be followed by others
Perform Safety initiatives.
Track critical parts inventory.
Interface with vendors relative to equipment diagnosis.
Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical literature to determine methods and sequences of operation.
Collaborate with Engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and improve or eliminate issues.
Assist with the installation and production readiness of manufacturing equipment coming on line.
Ability to define and use a Computerized Maintenance Management System to effectively track maintenance in an organized manner.
Understand and follow all relevant regulatory agency requirements.

Formal Qualifications
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferable in a Maintenance Capacity. Aerospace experience also preferred.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in (primary) English language.
Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and control drawings and schematics.
Electro–mechanical maintenance background and troubleshooting knowledge a plus.
Electrical training and license a plus.
Proficiency of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook, etc.). 
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments, hand tools, power tools, and standard shop equipment.
Strong multi-tasking competency.
Knowledge and understanding of industrial plant operations and machinery.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Must have good organizational skills.
Must meet the following physical requirements: 
a. Ability to climb extension ladders.
b. Ability to consistently life 35lbs from a floor or table position to chest height using proper lifting technique.
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. 

  • Specific Vision abilities required; including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus with a specific requirement for corrected vision at 20/25 or better;
  •  Must be able to work in a production environment and travel throughout the facilities and corporation to obtain information needed to perform job functions;
  •  Prolonged standing and have the ability to move around a manufacturing environment;
