About The Opportunity

An opportunity to work in a global environment with true rocket science! The GKN AES Space Business Unit is setting itself up for growth, and need to reinforce its team with dedicated Business development. The global space market is opening and GKN with its global footprint and outstanding technologies has a strong position. Based on the existing platforms and competences on turbines and Nozzles, we need a strong focus on new customers, securing a position on known components and adjacent markets. Based out of Trollhättan, Sweden, this position develops new customer business relationships and maintains exiting ones, manages the bid/no bid process and assists in creating overall strategies for the Space business unit, as well as supports the program teams with bids. The Space business unit is part of the Services and Special Products site and employs approximately 160 full time employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with designated customers/markets.
  • Generates product- and business development ideas while providing market feedback on competitive offerings and prospects.
  • Operates in the political dimension together with the PR-function in order to be a voice of the space industry in Sweden.
  • Influence and secure funding within Sweden and Europe, through ESA, to support the GKN AES strategy
  • Work in close cooperation with CRD’s (Customer Relationship Directors) Program- and Commercial Managers to grow the business.
  • Coordinates all new business opportunities identified on the space market and across AES and keeps the data up to date.
  • Support in setting Market, Product and Technology strategies for the space business in cooperation with the R&T development teams.
  • Drives a behavior of Growth and promotes a culture of innovation and constant search for new business opportunities within the organization
  • Drives increased revenue and profit to achieve the SSP growth targets while building strong internal and external relationships
  • Forecasts future sales opportunities and keeps abreast of customer and competitors growth plans
  • Supports complex and substantial negotiations and ensures customer relationships are maintained while business is secured.
  • Effectively evaluates the competition and develops business strategies and plans with internal and external stakeholders and communicates same across relevant functions and to senior leadership.
  • Acts as a lead in proposal response and completion of RFQ’s.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, in engineering, business management, or related discipline.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Experience from relevant roles required combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Cultural flexibility and international business experience highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and global internal and external customers.
  • Proven ability to network and communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Polished presentation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/issues and stay focused.
  • Knowledge and experience within the space launcher/propulsion sector or Aeronautics is considered a merit
  • Occasional travelling will be required for this position
