Proposed thesis title: Additive manufacturing in space turbine
Period of time and amount of credits: 30 credits/20 weeks.
Number of students: 1

Assignment description
The thesis task is proposed to be attacked by performing the study in three steps;
The initial step; studying the manufacturing methods of today’s turbine design in order to understand the turbine manufacturing sequence and to form a platform for the study.

The second step defines the fundamentals of the AM PB process capabilities and limitations is described.

In the third and last step the consequences of using AM PB are concluded regarding impact on cost of producing the part (both now and in the future), value of the part, lead time aspects, needed investments etc. are studied. N.B. that the possibilities of using AM PB design freedom to increase the value of the turbine is an important feature to take into consideration.



The question to be answered by the thesis described herein is; To what extent is the manufacturing and the cost affected, and in what way can the value of the turbine be increased, by introduction of AM PB in manufacturing?
