Machining Team Leader position in Bowling Green, Ohio

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Maintain the productivity of the assigned department or value stream. Identify abnormalities and correct situations utilizing practical problem solving skills and use countermeasures in order to remove waste and improve cost

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Formal qualifications required: 

Essential

High School Diploma or equivalent

           

Desirable 

Five or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience in an ISO9000 or QS9000 environment is preferred

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Lean Enterprise experience.

Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, MS Project, MfgPro)

 

Specific Functional Capabilities, Knowledge, and Skills Required

Essential

ISO 14001/18000, Quality – TS16949, Lean Enterprise to include Kaizen activities, SPC, KPI’s, Problem solving tools, KanBan, and Basic Financial metric understanding (CIP)

 

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Fill in for absenteeism, vacations, or other manpower shortages. Provide relief when operators need to be away from their work area.

  • Provide input to the Value Stream Leader or Supervisor on daily staffing, rotation, and scheduling decisions including coverage for breaks, lunches, etc.

  • Facilitate Team Start of Shift meeting and End of Shift review meeting for assigned areas and participate in other site communication meetings as necessary.

  • React to abnormalities by utilizing Quick Response Quality Circle (QRQC) and escalate when needed.

  • Update daily metrics on the PVD board.

  • Conduct layered process audits.

  • Identify and implement by coordinating with other functional areas any Continuous Improvement activities that drive:

  • KPI’s back to standard or better than standard

  • Improved tooling/equipment performance

  • Improved work place organization and overall process flow improvements

  • Create and audit adherence to standard work among team members.

  • Promote and maintain a positive team atmosphere by coaching, recognizing, rewarding, and providing constructive feedback to the team.

  • Provide input to Value Stream Leaders on employee performance and development.
