About The Opportunity

The Space Business unit is in a very exiting period where we manage major development programs, industrialization projects while starting negotiations on a long term serial production contract for Ariane 6 and ramp up of production volumes. In parallel to his we are working a number of tactical initiatives in order to support our strategy of growing the Space business.

We are now looking for a commercial manager to reinforce the IPT Nozzles. In this role you will be working in a high performing IPT managing the serial production of Vulcain 2Nozzles as well as the SWAN development program for the new Ariane 6 launcher. The major challenge for this team will be to secure the continued success of the SWAN development program, secure business continuity and contractual framework in the transition of ramping down Ariane 5 and ramping up Ariane 6, while negotiating the Ariane 6 production contract.

You will work functionally in the space commercial team reporting to the Space Commercial Director, and operationally be accountable for deliveries to the IPT Program manager.

Key Responsibilities

As a Commercial Manager in an Integrated Program Team you will be responsible for:

New bids
The Commercial Manager is responsible for the business modelling and contractual terms in support of the preparation of new bids to achieve over all business growth targets, margins and strategy objectives. It lies within the responsibility of the Commercial Manager to present the Gate packs at Gate 1 reviews and submit quotations to the customer. Further, the Commercial Manager shall create the Board Paper for contract approval.

Negotiation of contracts
The Commercial Manager is expected to lead the negotiation of contracts ensuring the best possible outcome for GKN.
The Commercial Manager shall ensure that the contractual obligations are clear, with risk balanced against reward and that deliverable and technical documents are understood and consistent with the commercial deal.
The Commercial Manager shall escalate potential “blocking points” through the commercial function when required.
The Commercial Manager is responsible for the preparation, negotiation and agreement of all modifications in scope and contract changes to avoid scope creep. The Commercial Manager is also responsible for a structured handover or integration of the contract in the operational phase.

Customer Claims
The Commercial Manager shall coordinate negotiation strategy and negotiate any customer claims for non performance against the contract or any other contractual claims.

BC- follow up
The Commercial Manager shall regularly make audits of its contracts to ensure that the contract delivers according to what was promised at Gate review. The Commercial Manager shall coordinate negotiation strategy and negotiate with the customer any significant deviations from the business case presented by the customer.

Profit and Cash
The Commercial Manager is expected to identify and execute actiosn enabling upsides on profit and cash for its program.

The Commercial Manager is highly integrated with the customer, and shall act as the voice of the customer within the IPT, securing compliance both from and towards the customer in terms of contractual obligations. This means a close cooperation with the Program Manager and the IPT management supporting with a commercial and business related mindset on various topics that occur during the life of a program.


Qualifications / Experience / Skills


·         Has demonstrated ability of leading work with great respect for dead lines

·         Has demonstrated communication skills in English, written and verbally

·          is a person who combines robustness, business and strategic acumen with the attention to detail through the whole process of preparing and presenting business cases to the management, when negotiating the final contract with the customer and when dealing with commercial issues arising through the life of the contract and beyond;

·          is a person that ensures that the commercial goals and objectives are met i.a. by leading and delegating tasks within the IPT and linked teams.

·         -shows a commercial and pragmatic approach providing innovative ideas and solutions;

·         has the ability to win people’s confidence, also when dealing with challenging customers;

·         is able to operate at all levels up to the most senior levels of GKN and its customers;

·         has the ability to sum up complex issues and provide clarity and decisiveness;

·         is able to prioritize effectively, and to optimize its ways of working;

·         - communicates clearly, listens carefully and can engage, without self-orientation; and

·         - trusts and has the trust of its colleagues, and is willing to work with other members of the team in an open and collaborative way.

Furthermore, the Commercial Manager is a person that is prepared to be flexible and step outside its comfort zone and , wants to learn, develop and gain new skills;
