Role Purpose
The principle purpose of the role is to manage, deliver and develop the engineering resources and competencies that efficiently and effectively are able to perform:
- Daily engineering work to develop and support products over time according to Business (incl Research Centre (RC)) and External customer needs.
- Development of new/improved methods, instructions, processes and knowledge according to Business (incl RC Trollhättan) needs in the framework set by the Functions.
- Create and be part of the culture to continuously improve operational excellence including meeting targets on capacity, flexibility and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
Responsible for delivering the following key aspects:
- Ensure the department role as the Centre for product knowledge within Cold Structures.
- Be an active part in Product and Technology strategy work.
- Responsible for staffing and development planning in line with the current and future business needs.
- Assistance of the engineering team inside the Programs to ensure that requirements are fulfilled.
- Capture best practices and standard way of working.
- Provide leadership to employees using the GKN Six promises and cultural standard.
- Ensuring visual leadership including recognition, coaching and constructive feedback to the employees.
- Create a healthy and safe work environment.
- Encourage positive employee engagement by creating a Continuous Improvement culture (LEAN)
- Manage KPI’s and be able to present those to Business leaders when necessary.
- Establish and follow the decided department budget.
- Identification of engineering capability in new business bid reviews.
- Plan for employee training, development and cross-training.
- Responsible for identifying, developing and support current and future Team leaders.
- Coordinate staffing and development planning with management at GAI.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Minimum 8 years in the field of Engineering.

Experience from leading engineering work within product development programs.
Experience from technical responsibility for complex engineering tasks.
Experience in managing and developing large engineering teams is highly valuable.
Experience from business process and cost responsibility.
Experience to work with continuous improvement tasks and methods.
Broad engineering background across multiple product sectors and customers is highly valuable.
Good reporting skills on status and progress.
Good interpersonal team working skills.
Relevant engineering / business educational degree.
